holding on to creative dreams
It’s been a while since I posted a blog on here, so my apologies! Thankfully 2025 has been a productive and busy year for me and Alcemi.
In my spare time, I have been beavering away in the back of my garden in the creative sanctuary of my studio, following my hearts creative desires and trusting the process of where my journey is leading me.
During 2025, I have created 2 painting collections called Vagabond and Seaweed. You could say I have satisfied my personal interest with them both by creating paintings that are unique in botanical subject matter. Both of which are currently exhibiting in Cardiff and Bristol this winter.
I have taken the leap of faith and stepped into the world of diversifying with how I use my artwork. Last winter I entered a cushion competition. From that experience, I developed a collection of vegan art cushion covers. This led to creating a greeting card and bookmark collection. Finally, stepping into the world of high quality art prints, to provide the best quality reproductions of my artwork for people to enjoy.
Using other production creatives with quality manufacturing and professional printing has been an enlightening learning curve, leading to the development of a beautiful range of Alcemi products using my artwork.
It all sounds very exciting, which it has been believe me. Yet, in order for me to take these progressive steps on my creative journey, I have had to face some fears! When your working on your own, it is hard to know whether you are making the right decisions and some of these steps feel very big uncertain steps to take.
In hindsight now, I realise that all I am doing is finally tapping into and using my design degree. Working with other professionals to help you create products can be a really positive experience as well as saving time.
Its nearly Christmas as I write this, I am prepping for my 3rd art stall this year. Even writing those words is still hard to believe as putting on a stall has been a dream of mine for years. Finally in August this year, I took the leap of faith and booked a stall to finally step into the public world to introduce Alcemi Art.
I have really enjoyed all aspects of doing a stall, its a lot of prep and planning (for me anyway as im Mrs Fussy Pants!). Its tiring too with the setting up and breaking down afterwards (harder than I had realised) but all in all, its great to interact with customers and experience first hand how they enjoy my artwork. So far it has all been very encouraging and positive. I am really looking forward to the Christmas Markets this winter, to showcase some festive tree decorations and candle blocks I have had fun making. That’s the beauty of having my own stall… I can make and put out exactly what I fancy! It is a gamble but its also fun too. You just have to believe in yourself, what you create, give it a go and see what happens!
Overall, 2025 has been a good year for me and Alcemi Art. I still have lots to try, explore and also do, like setting up my online shop….need to get a techno brain for Christmas for that one! I will get there, one step at a time and at a pace I can handle.
So a big thank you to all those who have supported my journey so far and also purchased some Alcemi art/products to enjoy at home or gift. I really appreciate you! Lets see what 2026 brings!!
