BOTANICAL BLOCKS

I have always loved the concept of creating depth on a wall. Where the picture itself becomes a 3 dimensional object, playing with light, creating shadows on the wall and allowing you to decorate the sides as an extra part of the painting!

The blocks below are all square wooden blocks 4” x 4” suitable for wall hanging or placing on a shelf or piece of furniture.

Photography plays a big part on how I engage with nature. Allowing me to capture the compositions I then turn into abstract monochrome. The images of trees and their branches are captured in the Summer light at dusk around Roath Park, Cardiff. Creating striking abstract silhouettes which I translated into emotive actions or states of being that we can relate to.

Celebrating the festive fruits and berries that we all associate with Yule time. Wooden blocks 4” x 4” square, all have their own beautiful painted forms. Some edible, some not but at Christmas, we enjoy eating pears and figs, decorating our tables with pomegranates and holly, brewing into sloe gin and a having a cheeky kiss under some mistletoe!
