These paintings use a very different technique to VASE or SEEDS & STEM Series as the plain background is not actually the initial background.

The layers behind the plain colour layer consists of a variety of layers using freehand mark making and stencil patterns. The shapes are mapped out and the plain colour is applied to black out the unwanted areas, ready for the gold or copper line work to highlight the remaining botanical forms.
